About Vasantham
Founded on 2 October 1989 in Mogappair East, Chennai, VASANTHAM Residential Special School for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disorders began with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a nurturing environment where every individual, regardless of ability, is valued, respected, and empowered to lead a meaningful life.
What started with just six individuals with special needs has grown into a trusted residential centre, supporting approximately 120 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, VASANTHAM provides comprehensive educational, therapeutic, vocational, and residential services, helping individuals develop essential life skills, confidence, independence, and dignity.

Our Team
Our dedicated multidisciplinary team of special educators, therapists, psychologists, vocational trainers, caregivers, and support staff work closely with families to ensure holistic development. VASANTHAM believes that every individual has the potential to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society when provided with the right guidance, compassion, and opportunities.
Every student at VASANTHAM receives an individualized programme (IEP) designed to meet his/her unique strengths, needs, and aspirations. Assessments are conducted at least once every three months to review each student’s current level and plan goals forward.
At VASANTHAM, learning extends beyond the classroom. Through therapy, vocational training, creative arts, sports, community participation, field visits, inter-school competitions and life-skills education, we strive to build confidence, independence, and social inclusion for every individual we serve.
As a registered non-profit organization, VASANTHAM continues to operate through the generous support of donors, corporate partners, volunteers, and well-wishers. Every contribution directly strengthens our mission of transforming lives and creating an inclusive society where every person is respected for their abilities rather than defined by their limitations.
